The spark of life

Many things can be someones spark of life. The sound of music, childrens laughter, the sound of a heart beating, leaves crunching under your feet, perhaps watching the waves crash upon the shore.

His spark of life was all that and more. He always invisioned that his love, his life, would encompass foreverness. A bond that would never be severed that would never end early.

He never thought that tragedy would over take his world. Now today, his life is slowly coming around. He is making progress. Although he won't talk about what happened out there on the ocean, one thing is for sure the passion still consumes him.

He has never once gotten back on a boat since that tragic day. He often sits on the pier just watching, waving, nodding. Afraid of something he once had to have.

Nora took him by surprise. A little ball of fire. She came into town just before the accident happened. He took a fancy to her. They began having long phone calls at bedtime periodically a text or two. The lust and wanton desires grew between the two. They became a couple, seemed overly happy and just were perfect together. Until that day. When he came back he was full of anger, hurt, and he in turn backed away from her. She tried to help him and he seemed to just keep getting worse. She finally agreed that this was the best decision for the two of them.

She moved on with her life, although she wanted to be a part of his life she soon realized that, that wasn't in the cards. She began seeing a local man who seemed alright for her. However she did not have that spark with him like she had with her true love.

It was late fall. The cider could be smelled from a couple of houses away. There had been a big bonfire on the town green and all were welcome to come back to the tavern for some drinks and food. This was an annual community thing. He couldn't help but notice her when she walked in. Nora was wearing a light pair of blue jeans and an off the shoulder green sweater. Her hair fell loosely on her shoulder in such pretty ringlets. Her green eyes always mezmerized him. Tonight was no exception.

He did not go unnoticed. She noticed him. He was rugged, five o'clock shadow, salt-n-pepper hair hazel eyeys that could bring a girl to her knees. He wore his jeans, boots and a button down shirt he looked so damn good.

She smiled and waved he winked and walked up to her. " May I have this dance?" he asked. She gladly accepted. Onlookers could see the instant connection a desire between the two. They could both feel the heat. They exchanged some words a few smiles then a kiss. You could see the locals smiling from ear to ear. Could this be a reunion?

When the night died down he escorted her to her car. They exchanged some more laughs, words, hugs, and kisses. This was his spark of life, this was the one thing he should of never let go. Life was in the shadows without her, he needed her, she needed him. Together they were going to become one.
